How can you participate?Join the Exquisite Uterus Community

Individuals and small groups

Exquisite Uterus canvas blanks are available for purchase at the print-on-demand fabric site, Spoonflower.com. You will be asked to set up a personal account to make the purchase. It is very easy to do.

Small Group Steps

Purchase one linen-cotton canvas fat quarter (27×18) and you will receive two canvas uteri. So plan to share.
Purchase linen-cotton canvas (54 inches wide) by the yard and you will receive: 1 yard =8 uteri; 2 yards =20 uteri; 3 yards = 32 canvas uteri to share with your friends.
Allow two weeks from the tie you order to receiving the fabric. It will probably take less time, but better safe than sorry.
We donate the 10% designers fee we receive on each purchase toward organizations working to provide full access to reproductive health care to women.
Once you have completed your own Exquisite Uterus, take good digital photograph of it and send it to us with up to an 80-word statement, and we will post it on our virtual exhibition on the Exquisite Uterus Pinterest Preview Board.

Organize an event

Wisconsin is the State best represented in the Exquisite Uterus Project because the project originated with two artists who live there. Montana is right behind Wisconsin in the number of artists who have Exquisite Uteri included in the project. The creative feminist women in Red Lodge, Montana created a model that others can emulate to use the Exquisite Uterus Project to good effect. Here is how you can do it too:

Large Group Steps

Plan a place and date for a Uterus Decorating Party
Consider charging a small fee to cover the cost of the art supplies and uterus blanks, or find a sponsor to cover the costs and ask participants to provide an additional donation that can go to your local Planned Parenthood or independent reproductive healthcare provider.
Consider providing refreshments, uteri, art supplies, and auction or raffle items, and free takeaways.
Invite artists and other creative types to help with the organizing, share creative ideas, and their excess art supplies, for this new twist on the old-fashion sewing bee.
Figure out how many participants you can accommodate and encourage participants to RSVP early, to reserve a space, and to refer friends who are interesting, funny, and passionate about women’s health issues. Also encourage participants to bring young women who may not be knowledgeable about issues.
Invite a speaker from a local reproductive rights organization or agency to outline the issues and actions that are current in your state, and the actions that can be taken to make a difference.
If allowed in your state, bring in someone who can do voter registration on site.
Purchase the number of cotton-linen blank uteri you think you will need to provide one for each participant at least two weeks in advance of the event.
