I am a textile artist and my practice focuses on emotions, body and displacement. I explore and reflect on moments and experiences by threading, stitching and texturing to create shapes and forms.
Memento Mori Uterus
For me the exquisite uterus project was my opportunity to stick the needle in an outline of a removed piece of my body. The removed organ contained the story of a life, a diagnosis and a positive prognosis. The surgeons stitched my body together. I have stitched myself together emotionally. Stitching the uterus let me move the organ and that time in my hands. Colouring and texturing it created energy and flow in my mind and body – a memento mori for the rest of my life.
